Open Water Swimmers of Hong Kong (OWSHK) meet every Saturday, all year round. We meet at 2pm, and hit the water 2.30pm sharp. Repulse Bay is our base, but we do go to other locations regularly.
OWSHK have been meeting since 2007/08, from humble beginnings with just a few swimmers, and now in 2015, we have a huge on line data base of swimmers and triathletes.
We have two groups (A and B) to cater for different levels of swimmers. So if you are an Open Water die hard or a beginner to swimming in the Ocean, you are all welcome. We are not however, a learn to swim group. Our weekly sessions are free; our leaders will teach you how to familiarize yourself in the Ocean, navigate, drafting in a pack, Open Water strategies etc
Safety is our number one priority, and we encourage all swimmers to wear a brightly colored swim cap or use a swim buoy, then if there are any craft in the water going by, we can easily be seen. When we swim in the Ocean, (outside the safety net) we never swim by ourselves, always have a buddy swimmer with you or swim in a group.
In addition to our weekly training session, from time to time we hold our own events. Such as Time Trials, Team Events, Handicap Events, or straight out swims from 1,5k to 5k. We also promote any other organizations who conduct Open Water Events.
LIABILTY NOTE – OWSWK take no responsibility for any accidents that may occur outside the safety net.
MISSION
Our Mission at OWSHK is to build a team atmosphere for our training sessions, events and our on-line community. Our goal in Open Water Swimming is to create a fun filled interaction between our volunteers and swimmers at all levels here in Hong Kong, the region and all over the World.
VISION
It’s important to remember, while swimmers are driven and focused on their own personal achievements, we should never forget to simply enjoy the Ocean, the friendships we establish, stay healthy and just have fun.
